Our services

We support people of all ages struggling with poverty or debt. We know the cost of living crisis is affecting a huge number of people, and that state benefits and pensions are often no longer sufficient in enabling financial independence.

The people who come to us are diverse in background, language, age, and need. What they share is that they have been struggling with something alone that should not have been so hard.

Our primary beneficiaries include:

  • Elderly and older residents who are digitally excluded and disconnected from services that have moved online

  • Families for whom English is not their first language, unable to navigate English-language systems and bureaucracy

  • Low-income households without reliable access to devices or internet

  • People in crisis — facing food insecurity, mounting debt, housing difficulty, or the overwhelming complexity of the benefits system

  • Isolated individuals — including single parents, recent arrivals to the borough, and those with no local support network

  • Mothers seeking a supported, flexible, child-hour-friendly route back into community participation

Below is a summary of some of the free, practical solutions that Holding Your Online Hands can offer in collaboration with our incredible partners. We do not turn anyone away. If someone walks through our door, we find a way to help.

FREE WEEKLY DROP-IN SESSIONS

At the heart of everything we do is our free weekly drop-in session. Parents and carers, particularly mothers, repeatedly identified childcare as the barrier that most often prevented them from accessing daytime services, so we ensured our sessions can run during nursery and school hours.

There is no appointment needed. No referral required. No eligibility criteria. Our sessions are not transactional. We do not process people and move on. We sit with them, take our time, and follow up week after week. We celebrate small wins, because for someone who has been struggling alone, getting a utility bill resolved or receiving their first food voucher can feel like a genuine turning point.

Each session runs for approximately six hours and offers hands-on, human-centred support including:

  • Digital and telephone support helping people make calls, complete forms, navigate websites and access support

  • Food bank and baby bank voucher access, connecting families with emergency food and essential supplies

  • Energy grant applications, supporting people to apply for grants and schemes they didn't know they were entitled to

  • Utility bill challenges and resolutions, sitting with people to dispute incorrect bills and navigate complaints processes

  • Housing support signposting, connecting people to specialist surveyors and legal support through the Tenants Advice network

  • Debt signposting, connecting people to specialist debt support in a way that feels safe and non-stigmatising

  • Benefits navigation, helping people understand and access the support they are entitled to

  • General admin and bureaucracy, tackling confusing letters, forms, and phone calls that would otherwise feel impossible

  • Warm social connection, because sometimes, what someone needs most is simply a space where they feel they belong

Safe Haven status

We have held official Camden Safe Haven status since September 2025 — a designation that means vulnerable people across the borough can be confidently and safely directed to us. We treat every person who comes to us with care, competence, and complete confidentiality.

Our team holds Designated Safeguarding Lead certification to Level 1 for both Adult and Child Safeguarding, and our volunteers will receive the same training as we grow our team. We also sit on Camden's Safeguarding Adults Partnership Board (SAPB), including its Safeguarding Engagement Subgroup, at organisational level.

WAVE & Ask For Angela

In June 2026, we were formally credited as completing advanced WAVE and Ask for Angela UK training with Safe Haven, delivered in partnership with We Make Camden.

Following this training, we attended our first board meeting for Adult Safeguarding with We Make Camden, where we agreed to develop a case study from our Safe Haven experience — demonstrating the real-world importance of safeguarding and Safe Haven training to our community and to the wider voluntary and community sector.

We have also joined the alumni network of The Kids Network — a respected children's charity offering one-to-one mentoring to improve young people's mental health, confidence, resilience, and happiness.
